Founded in April 2008 Lese organization is one of the largest animal-care organizations in Lithuania. All members of our organization are animal lovers who work without financial pay.
Our main activities:
Since the establishment of this organization in April 2007 we have sheltered and found new home for more than 800 animals and financed the neutering for over 1000 animals which will reduce the number of homeless animals by about 3600 every year. Due to the portal GyvunuGloba.lt we were also able to find new home for more than 5000 animals.
In our temporary premises we provide shelter for 50-100 cats and dogs at a time. It is truly painful to be powerless against the fact that thousands of animals who became unnecessary to some people are brought to animal shelters where most of them, about 80-90% are destroyed and we are only able to save a small quantity of them. That is why we are planning to open a private and official animal shelter. For now on we are only being stopped by the ineffective search for the rent premises meeting all shelter requirements. Our vision is an organization which actively improves the situation of all homeless animals, protects animal rights and develops the Lithuanian society attitude to the problems of animal sheltering.
Our organization mission is to amend the amount of homeless animals in Lithuania without promoting euthanasia, carry out the prevention of undesirable animal reproduction and bring in the society to the activity.
Our goals are:
- To reduce the number of unwanted pet animals in a humane way;
- Finding new home for the sheltered animals from everywhere in Lithuania;
- Spread the idea of loving animals;
- Promoting the interest of animal wardship to Lithuanian society;
- Stop the cruelty and inappropriate behaviour with animals in Lithuania;
- Creating an effectively working system of animal saving;
- Establishing an Animal Shelter that meets all European Union standards;
- Arranging and exercising the programmes of public education about our activities and animal wardship in Lithuania.
