Animal rescue

When to appeal?

There are many situations when elderly adoptees become unneeded. To
shelter temporarily or to find new owners to all abandoned or simply grown in
the streets animals neither “Lese” would be able to nor wouldn’t all existing
shelters in Lithuania – animals simply would not fit. That is why Your help is
uncountable in these situations:

Injured and/or sick animals found in the streets;
Vagrant animals living in the yards who bring cubs;
When previous owners cannot take care of the animal due to death or illness.

The simplest way of course is to call up dogcatchers or to bring animals into quarantine. But sad
statistics of these animals is not a secret to anyone, so people turn to us or other alternative animal
shelter organizations asking to shelter, treat and find new homes for animals. Unfortunately, we do not
have either special equipment for catching animals or qualified people for catching and treating them,
as well as place where to keep and domesticate them later on. However, it is always possible to find a
solution when animals are being saved by “united forces”.

How can You help?


To shelter. In most situations the most important step is to provide temporal care to the
animal. Just do not be afraid to take responsibility and do not give up. Maybe Your friends or
relatives can shelter an animal even for few days? After all, sometimes an animal needs to be
sheltered only for a day or two. Often it works out fast in finding homes for some animals (e.g.
kittens and puppies, pedigreed animals), others, however, take longer time, but all animals find
their homes at the end of the day. By sheltering animals temporarily, you offer them a new life.
It is extremely important to shelter animals living on the streets not only because of the threat
but also because domesticated frightful and semi-wild animals find new homes considerably
faster.


Take animal to a VET clinic. In most cases we do not have possibilities to transport animals.
So, if an animal is injured, or Vet’s help is needed, it would be wonderful if You could offer
transporting an animal to a Vet clinic.


Submit a free add to our web site www.Lese.lt. Placing an add or publishing the animals’ story
is always a good step in reuniting the animal with the real owner or finding a suitable new
home. We are proud that since the beginning of our activities all donated animals found their
homes sooner or later.

How can we help?

In this case we can offer:

To temporarily shelter the animal at VET clinic’s place. This service does cost, so we would ask
You to contribute, at least partially, to animal’s welfare.


To finance few female cats’ and dog’s sterilization according to “Lese” undergoing sterilization
program. This will help to prevent Your yards from new kittens and puppies, and stray animals
will have better chances of being donated.


To help with transportation for animals. Opportunities are limited, but in some cases our
members will be able to help to take animals to VET clinics and to get them to new owners.

To spread information about an animal in internet pages and information boarders. In a lot of
cases new owners or people who want to help are found through advertisements or news. Our
members carry animals’ ads at VET clinics and on boards in animals’ shops.


Finally, before taking a decision to give animal to a shelter let’s first find out how much time an animal
will be kept there and what are possibilities of finding a new home. Both, You and us, we are powerless
to help all these animals by ourselves, but together there is always a possibility to find a way. Let’s not
be afraid to do good things!
